Standout Kara Hamby (Mead High School, Spokane, WA) is one of the main reasons the Falcons have a perfect record so far this season at 23 - 0.

SPU: Three-year letterwinner and two-year returning starter in midfield…All-region and first team all-conference as junior and sophomore…Academic all-conference as a sophomore and junior…Team’s most valuable and co-captain as junior, most improved as a freshman and unsung hero as a sophomore.

Junior: Anchored midfield diamond in middle. String of 37 consecutive starts snapped Sept. 28, missing game due to injury…Both goals came in opening five games, including penalty in 3-2 road win over Sonoma State.

Sophomore: Key player in defensive midfield role, and one of only two players to start all 25 games…Key assist came on first goal in 2-0 win over UC San Diego for regional championship.

Freshman: Key reserve and part-time starter, playing in more games than any other freshman...Started both playoff games…Each of her three assists came as non-starter.

Mead High School: Four-year letter winner and starter at center midfield and at forward…A three-time all-Greater Spokane League selection…Second team all-state as a senior… Also played for Spokane Vision and was a state ODP selection


    




Alex Butler (Gonzaga Prep, Spokane, WA), who transferred from Washington Statye University last Spring helps to anchor a defense that has only given up 10 goals in 22 games. 

 Washington State: Played in nine games as sophomore and two during injury-plagued freshman year.

Gonzaga Prep: Four-year letterwinner and all-state midfielder her final two years…Greater Spokane League defensive MVP as senior and offensive MVP as junior…Bullpups finished third in state as senior…Played for 2004 national champion Spokane Shadow and made regional ODP team in ’03…Lettered four years in track and three in basketball. Won district 100 title as sophomore and was third in state 4A 400 as junior. Started three years in basketball
